Eight Football Players Earn All-MAC Honors

Defensive lineman Thomas Incoom and defensive back Donte Kent named to All-MAC First Team.
CLEVELAND, Ohio—Led by two First Team selections in senior defensive lineman Thomas Incoom and sophomore defensive back Donte Kent, eight Central Michigan football players earned All-Mid-American Conference honors, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.
For Central Michigan, earning Second Team honors was senior offensive lineman Jamezz Kimbrough. CMU's Third Team picks include junior offensive lineman Deiyantei Powell-Woods, junior tight end Joel Wilson, sophomore linebacker Kyle Moretti, sophomore punter Luke Elzinga, redshirt freshman kickoff returner De'Javion Stepney.
The All-MAC team and yearly football awards are picked and voted upon by the conference's 12 head football coaches. The entire team is posted below.

A Stone Mountain, Ga. native who is on the Watch List for the Ted Hendricks Award honoring the nation's top defensive end, Incoom concluded the year ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 2 in the MAC in sacks (11.5, 0.96 per game) and No. 7 in in the nation and No. 2 in the MAC in tackles for loss (19.0, 1.6 per game). He also ranks No. 22 nationally in fumble recoveries. Incoom
ranked No. 4 on the squad in tackles with 57 (31 solo), recovered two fumbles, forced a fumble, and registered a team-high four quarterback hurries. In his two-year career, 25-game career at Central Michigan, Incoom has amassed 84 tackles (47 solo), 27.0 tackles for loss for 140 yards, 15.5 sacks for 116 yards, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. Incoom majors in Organizational Administration.
Donte Kent, a Harrisburg, Pa. native, concluded the year ranked No. 9 nationally and No. 2 in the MAC in passes defended (15, 1.4 per game). From his cornerback position, he finished the year with 51 tackles (39 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, and a team-high 15 pass breakups. Kent also forced a fumble and blocked a kick. In his two-year career, 30-game career, Kent has 124 tackles (99 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack, two interceptions, 30 pass breakups, 32 passes defended, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick.
A Homewood, Ill. native, offensive lineman Jamezz Kimbrough earned Second Team All-MAC honors. As Central Michigan's center, Kimbrough earned starts in all 12 games in 2022. He concluded the year having started all 43 of his total career games played, along with starts in 31 consecutive contests. He also served as team captain in 10 of 12 games in 2022. Kimbrough is a Sports Management major.
Bluefield, W.Va. native and offensive lineman Deiyantei Powell-Woods took home Third Team All-MAC honors. In 2022, Powell-Woods earned starts in all 12 games at offensive guard. He ended the year after having started in 28 career games and 25 consecutive contests. Powell-Woods also served as team captain in five contests. He majors in Organizational Leadership.
Tight end Joel Wilson, a Petoskey, Mich. native, earns All-MAC honors for the first time in his career. Before missing the season's final three games due to injury, Wilson led the Chippewas in both touchdown receptions (six) and yards receiving per game (49.4) and ranked second on the team in scoring (38 points), receptions (44), and receiving yards (445). After nine games, Wilson ranked second nationally among tight ends in receptions and receiving yards and he led the Chippewas in receiving in three games. During his four-year, 34-game career, Wilson has 82 receptions for 874 yards and 12 touchdowns with a 25.7 average per game. Wilson is a Mechanical Engineering major.
An Arvada, Colo. native, linebacker Kyle Moretti ended the year ranked No. 27 nationally and No. 7 in the MAC in solo tackles (5.0 per game). While starting all 12 games, Moretti led the Chippewas in total tackles (94), ranked third on the team in tackles for loss (7.5-39 yards) and totaled 3.0 sacks for 30 yards, two pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He led the Chippewas in tackles in eight games and registered a career-high 13 tackles vs. Buffalo on Nov. 9. In his two-year, 25-game career, Moretti has registered 141 total tackles (84 solo), 11.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, three pass breakups, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery. He is a General Management major.
Originally from Grand Rapids, Mich., punter Luke Elzinga earned All-MAC honors for the third consecutive season. He ranked No. 3 in the MAC in punting with a 42.2 average per punt (55 punts for 2,321 yards). With a long of 65 yards, Elzinga kicked eight 50-yard punts, placed 22 inside the 20-yard line and had no punts blocked. He also served as the Chippewas' holder on PATs and field goals. Over his three-year, 31-game career, he has 145 punts for 6,147 yards (42.4 average) with 61 placed inside the 20-yard line and 24 50-yard punts. Elzinga is an accounting major.
Hailing from McComb, Mich., De'Javion Stepney earned All-MAC Third Team honors as a kickoff returner. Stepney did it all for Central Michigan in 2022 as he started 10 games at safety, returned kicks on special teams, and even played running back. He concluded the year with 40 tackles (25 solo) with eight pass breakups and one tackle for loss on defense, returned eight kicks for 214 yards (26.8 average) with a long of 60 yards on special teams, and rushed 11 times for five yards and a touchdown on offense. In his two-year career at CMU, Stepney has accumulated 40 tackles (25 solo) and eight pass breakups in 25 games.
