NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Central Michigan track & field team wrapped up a busy weekend on Saturday at the Notre Dame Meyo Indoor Invitational at Loftus Sports Center.
Sophomore Tricia Pierce posted the top finish among CMU student-athletes on Saturday as she placed in the pole vault at 3.63 meters (11 feet, 10 ¾ inches.).
The highlight of the weekend came on Friday at the Meyo as CMU's Hayley Manners won the long jump. Also on Friday, the Chippewas earned 14 top-10 finishes at the Snowdown Showdown at Grand Valley State.
"We had a really good weekend," CMU Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Jenny Swieton said. "The people who went to grand Valley, we had a lot of PRs, which was awesome.
"And for the people that we took to Notre Dame, it was our chance to get used to competing back-to-back days because you have to do that at the (Mid-American Conference) meet if you're going to double or if you're going to run a final.
"That's exactly why we did it, to get that experience before we go to the MAC meet. We definitely accomplished what we wanted to."
The Chippewas are scheduled to compete next weekend at the Grand Valley State Big Meet.
