MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan lacrosse student-athletes Maggie Diebold and Hailie Moore have earned weekly accolades from the Mid-American Conference.
Â
Diebold was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week and Moore was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week for their roles in helping the Chippewas to two wins last week.
Â
Diebold, a senior from Howell, N.J., led the Chippewas with 11 goals on the week, scoring four in an 18-6 victory over St. Francis, three in an 18-6 win over Detroit Mercy, and four in a 17-13 loss to eighth-ranked Michigan.
Â
She helped CMU outdraw the Wolverines, 21-12, as the Chippewas finished a perfect 16-for-16 in clears and outshot Michigan, 19-11, in the second half. Diebold totaled 14 shots (13 shots on goal) and scored the game winner in both contests. Diebold leads the Chippewas with 15 goals and ranks second on the team with 16 points.
Â
Moore, a junior from Spring, Texas, led a defensive unit that allowed just 9.67 goals per game. The Chippewas dominated both Detroit Mercy and St. Francis and gave the 7-0 Wolverines their second-closest game of the season.
Â
Moore finished the week with eight ground balls, six forced turnovers, and four draw controls. Her ground-ball total and forced-turnover total were both team highs. She finished with five forced turnovers and five ground balls as the Chippewas rolled past Detroit Mercy in their MAC opener and she played a key role in limiting Michigan to 11 second-half shots and just one fourth-quarter goal.
