Pair of Baseball Players Honored by MAC

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan baseball players Drew Lechnir and Adam Mrakitsch earned weekly awards from the Mid-American Conference for their respective performances in helping the Chippewas to a perfect 5-0 record last week.
Lechnir, a sophomore from Kimberly, Wis., hit .611 and drove in 10 runs to earned the co-MAC Player of the Week Award, while Mrakitsch, a freshman from Howell, went 2-0 on the mound in earning the co-MAC Pitcher of the Week Award.
Lechnir had a pair of three-hit games on the week, including a 3-for-5 performance with two doubles and a career-high five RBI in Sunday's 16-0 win over Akron. He scored three runs and had two RBI in the Chippewas' 11-10 victory over the Zips in the series opener. He closed the week with a .677 on-base percentage, a .722 slugging percentage and struck out just twice in 21 plate appearances.
Mrakitsch, a left-hander, did not allow a run and surrendered just three hits in his two starters covering 9 1/3 innings. He struck out a career-high six in three innings vs. Madonnna. For the week, he posted a 0.75 WHIP and brought his ERA down to 2.11 on the season.
