Soccer Drops Season Opener

MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Central Michigan soccer team dropped a 1-0 nonconference decision to Morehead State on Thursday in the Chippewas' season opener.
The game's lone goal came in the 55th minute when Anna Lohrer headed in a corner kick.
The was the difference in an evenly played game. Both teams finished with 10 shots on goal. The Chippewas, who had three shots on goal, finished with five corner kicks. The Eagles had two shots on goal and four corner kicks.
CMU freshman goalkeeper Emma Shingler made one save in her first career start. Morehead State keeper Michelle Jerantowski made three saves.
The Chippewas' Elizabeth Chlystun scored a goal as time expired, but the play was called offsides.
Chlystun and Jaelyn Dobrowolski shared the team lead with three shots each.
CMU entertains Marquette in its home opener on Sunday, Aug. 21 (1 p.m.).
