Hankey Earns Prestigious Enberg Award

Track & field standout to be honored at CMU-Bucknell football game
Central Michigan track & field standout Olivia Hankey has been named the Dick Enberg Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

Hankey, a graduate student from Waterford, earned a bachelor of science degree in May with a major in exercise science and a minor in nutrition. She is pursuing a master's of science degree in exercise kinesiology with the intent of attending physician's assistant school.

Hankey will be introduced during an on-field ceremony on Saturday at the CMU-Bucknell football game, which kicks off at 1 p.m. on Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

The award goes annually to a student-athlete who carries a grade point average of 3.20 or better, has performed with distinction in their sport, and is considered a team leader.

It is named in memory of the late Dick Enberg, an esteemed sports broadcaster and CMU alumnus.Â

Last spring, Hankey placed second in three events, the heptathlon, the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x400-meter relay, at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships and qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary in the heptathlon.

She earned All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and is a multi-time Academic All-MAC honoree in both indoor and outdoor track & field.
