Softball Concludes Kentucky Trip

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Central Michigan concluded its five-game road trip at the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Classic with a 4-2 loss to Jacksonville State on Sunday afternoon. With the decision, CMU falls to 3-6 on the young season.
Central Michigan finished the game with five hits. Caitlyn Britton delivered a two-out two RBI double in the bottom of the first inning which scored both Allyssa Hollo and Skylar Coberley. The hit tied the game at 2-2. But those two runs were the only times a Chippewa crossed the plate in the contest.
Kaitlyn Bean started the game in the circle and gave up six hits & four runs in three innings of work. Cierra Laska entered in the fourth inning, faced two batters and Grace Lehto pitched the last 3 1/3 innings and allowed just two hits and no runs. Lehto faced the final 12 batters giving up two hits.
Jacksonville State took a 3-2 lead in the top of the third when Ashley Phillips drove in a run on a single to center. JSU went up 4-2 in the fourth inning when Camryn McLemore's bases loaded walk drove in a run.
Next, Central Michigan will head to Madeira Beach, Fla., where they will play eight games over five days.
