Softball Falls at Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Central Michigan Softball team traveled to East Lansing for one final contest before Mid-American Conference play starts this weekend. The Chippewas fell to Michigan State after a 3-0 decision. The Chippewas move to 10-13 on the season.
Grace Lehto started the game in the circle for the Chippewas, starting her 10th game of the season. Lehto's record moves to 3-6 on the season. In the outing, Lehto struck out four and allowed five hits.In the bottom half of the third, the Spartans loaded the bases with one out. A sacrifice fly by Alexis Barroso scored Anna Fox for the first run of the game. In the bottom of the fourth, AJ Militello homered with two outs that gave MSU the 2-0 lead. In the fifth, an RBI double from Collette Allen scored Jessica Mabrey extending the lead to 3-0 in favor of the Spartans.

Abbey Tolmie recorded the first hit of the game for the Chippewas to start off the sixth inning with a single back to the pitcher. Skylar Coberley singled to right field to start the seventh inning. Those were the only two hits for CMU on the day.
Next up, the Chippewas will travel to Muncie, Ind. where they will open their conference season with the Ball State Cardinals. The games are being shifted from their original Friday-Saturday to Saturday-Sunday due to incoming weather.
