Football Season Opener at Michigan State Moved to Friday, Sept. 1

Chippewas to face Spartans for first time in five years; CMU has registered three wins over MSU since the series began in 1991.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Central Michigan's 2023 football season opener at Michigan State has been moved to Friday, September 1, the two schools announced this morning. A kickoff time and television designation for the game has yet to be determined. The contest was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 2.
Central Michigan and Michigan State renew their rivalry for the first time in five years and since September 29, 2018. The two schools will meet for the 12th time since the series began in 1991. The Chippewas have defeated the Spartans three times, which includes three of the top victories in school history. CMU won the first two meetings of the series, 20-3 over No. 18 ranked Michigan State on Sept. 14, 1991 and 24-20 on Sept. 12, 1992. The third CMU victory, a 29-27 win, occurred on Sept. 12, 2009.
CMU will begin taking requests for non conference road game tickets, which includes its games at Michigan State, Notre Dame, and South Alabama, on Wednesday, April 26. Details to request tickets will be posted on www.cmuchippewas.com within the next two days. Priority will go to Chippewa Athletic Fund members.
Central Michigan's 2023 football schedule was announced on March 1. Click here to access the schedule. Central Michigan and the Mid-American Conference will announce kickoff times, television appearances, and a preseason training camp schedule at a later date.
The Mid-American Conference 2023 Football Media Day is scheduled for July 19-20. A time and location have yet to be determined.
