
Field Hockey Announces 2023 Schedule

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan Field Hockey officially announced its 2023 schedule on Monday, starting with two exhibition games at Michigan State on Aug. 20 and at the University of Toronto Aug. 23.

Central Michigan will take on four top-25 teams from 2022 throughout the regular season. The Chippewas hold their home opener against No. 16 Old Dominion on Sept. 1. Central Michigan will then head to No. 10 Iowa on Sept. 8. After a month-long break from top-25 opponents the Chippewas will play at No. 12 Louisville on Oct. 8 and will play their final home game against No. 5 Michigan on Oct. 22.

The Chippewas take on two other top-12 teams for road games in the 2023 season. CMU will head to No. 10 Iowa on Sept. 8 and a month later will take on No. 12 Louisville. Â

Michigan State will then breakup Central Michigan's in conference play with a matchup in East Lansing Sept. 24.

Kent State will be the Chippewas' first Mid-American Conference opponent on Sept. 15 before playing at Ball State on Sept. 22, a series the Chippewas lead 12-8.

The Chippewas will then host a weekend tournament for two games, one a Mid-American Conference match up against Appalachian State on Sept. 29 and a non-conference battle with Lindenwood on October 1st. Virginia Commonwealth will conclude the non-conference regular season on Oct. 29 in Richmond, Va.

The MAC schedule is rounded out by Bellarmine (Oct. 6), Ohio (Oct. 13)—the final conference home game—Miami (OH) (Oct. 20) and Longwood (Oct. 27).

The 2023 Mid-American Conference Championship Tournament will be held in Miami University in Oxford, Ohio Nov. 3-4 where the Chippewas hope to make their first tournament appearance since 2019.
