CMU Announces 2023 Football Promotions Schedule

“All Roads Lead Home” is the theme for the 2023 CMU Football season; theme days set for Central Michigan’s five home football games.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—"All Roads Lead Home" is the theme for the 2023 Central Michigan Football season as the CMU athletic department announced its upcoming home game promotional schedule on Monday morning. Central Michigan and the Mid-American Conference will announce additional kickoff times and television appearances as they become available. CMU's full schedule is listed at this link.
Central Michigan's 2023 home football schedule features five games at Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. Each game will have a promotional theme. Here is a look at themes for each game:
Saturday, Sept. 9 vs. New Hampshire—Welcome Home (1:30 p.m. kickoff)
As Central Michigan's home opener, the Chippewas will "Welcome Home" all fans and students. On Friday, CMU will present its Alumni Awards, the recipients will then be recognized during Saturday's game. A CMU College will be featured and promoted on the concourse level, and each Chippewa sports team in town will set up a station around the stadium to mingle with fans and interact with youth before kickoff. In addition, fans have the opportunity to ride the Maroon & Gold Express, a train to the game from Owosso to Mount Pleasant. Information on this unique experience was released last Wednesday and tickets are now sale at this link. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity.
Saturday, Sept. 30 vs. Eastern Michigan— Community Day/Hall of Fame Day/Family & Friends Weekend (Kickoff: TBA)
As Central Michigan's Mid-American Conference opener, the Chippewas will host Community and Hall of Fame Day. As part of Community Day, CMU and You Day will take place on the Central Michigan University campus, with participants and their families invited to attend the football game. CMU students are encouraged to invite their families to campus for Family and Friends Weekend, organized by Family Central, where they can take advantage of a special ticket bundle available. A College Spotlight feature will be presented, the CMU School of Music will also present its 69th Band Day halftime performance, featuring high school bands from across the state of Michigan. Flag officers will also be recognized. On Friday evening, CMU Athletics will host its prestigious 2023 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees in a ceremony at McGuirk Arena (6 p.m, free admission). The inductees will be honored on the field at the football game.
Saturday, Oct. 14 vs. Akron—2023 Homecoming Game/Gold Out/Traditions Day (3:30 p.m. kickoff)
In a yearly tradition which began in 1924, Central Michigan will host its annual Homecoming Game. A Gold Out is planned as all fans are encouraged to wear gold clothing to the contest. As part of Traditions Day, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe will perform a pre-game tribal drum ceremony, while halftime features the CMU Marching Chips alumni band and the crowning of Gold Ambassadors. Central Michigan's Homecoming Grand Marshals, who will be announced at a later time, will also be honored.
Tuesday, Oct. 31 vs. Northern Illinois—Fright Night (7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. kickoff)
The Chippewas will host Northern Illinois for a Halloween Fright Night. Fright Night is the theme as fans are encouraged to participate in a costume contest hosted during pre-game, with the winner appearing for an on-field recognition. CMU will sponsor a Trick or Treat in the parking lot or in the Kelly/Shorts Stadium concourse; more details to come. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive an LED glow stick to cheer on the Chippewas.
Friday, Nov. 24 vs. Toledo—Senior Day/FansGiving (Noon kickoff)
Central Michigan will host Toledo for its final regular season game the day after Thanksgiving. The Chippewas will honor their football Senior Class in a pre-game ceremony. Discounts on tickets and concessions will be available.
For each contest, the Kids Zone will have a new location and have a more extensive offering of games, including two to three bounce houses, face painters, balloon artists and other attractions.
College Spotlight features will provide the opportunity for various Central Michigan University colleges to utilize the concourse to promote and highlight their programs. In addition, all CMU MAC Championship teams, along with new coaching staffs will be honored at some point during the season.
