Cross Country Wraps up Regular Season at Wisconsin; MAC Championships on Clock

Paupore & Cockerel lead Chippewas in respective races
MADISON, Wis. — Central Michigan Cross Country wrapped up its regular season on Saturday at Wisconsin's Pre Nationals, hosted at the Badgers' Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
CMU looks onward to the Mid-American Conference Championships, which will be on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Muncie, Ind. hosted by Ball State.
The Chippewas competed in the Men's and Women's "B" race as well as the open races on Saturday afternoon.
Emily Paupore led the charge for the CMU women on the competitive course, finishing 11th in the 6k "B" race. She finished in 20:49.8. Natalie Newcombe finished 28th, followed by Jelena Prescott in 119th, Joanna Kelley in 135th, Ava Teed in 173rd, Emma Janesak in 184th and Kate Jenkins in 194th in the 206-runner field.
CMU finished 16th as a squad in the race out of 28 competing teams, also leading MAC foes Western Michigan and Miami (Ohio).
Nick Cockerel led the men in the 8k "B" race in 104th of a 180-runner field. Behind him were Blake Chipman (125th), Clay Kuiper (128th), Ethan Leitner (130th), Carson White (138th), Jason Fredricks (149th), Greg Janesak (158th) and Joey Taverna (163rd).
Maya Guikema finished 60th in the women's open 6k. Chesney Wilke was 82nd, Logan Brazee 87th and Emma Netzel 88th.
For the men, Miciah Smith (76th), Aiden Smith (84th) and Hong Bing Tang (90th) ran in the 92-runner men's open 8k.
