Gold tops Maroon in Annual Wrestling Intrasquad

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Gold squad defeated Maroon, 23-15, on Friday during Central Michigan wrestling's Maroon & Gold Intrasquad dual meet at McGuirk Arena.

The Gold team won six of the 10 matches. Two of those victories came with bonus points, the first at 149 pounds where Mason Shrader pinned Jimmy Nugent and the second at 157 where Johnny Lovett posted a 20-5 technical fall over Cole Hopkins.

Sean Spidle (133) recorded the lone bonus-point victory for the Maroon side when he pinned Vince Perez.

The Chippewas are scheduled to open the season on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Michigan State Open, and then entertain Indiana in their first dual meet of the season on Friday, Nov. 15 at McGuirk Arena (7 p.m.).
