CMU Gymnastics welcomes Bowling Green, Wrestling takes on NIU in unique event at McGuirk Arena
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – An action-packed doubleheader night featuring two of Central Michigan's premier athletic programs.
Central Michigan is set to host Rumble & Tumble, a gymnastics meet and a wrestling meet contested simultaneously in McGuirk Arena on Friday, Jan. 17 (7 p.m.).
Both CMU squads will face Mid-American Conference opponents: the wrestling team will take on Northern Illinois; the gymnastics team will square off against Bowling Green.
"We are so excited to bring back the Rumble and Tumble event," CMU gymnastics coach Christine MacDonald said. "We have competed at similar events in the past, and it is a truly unique and electric environment. Competition in front of our fans is something we love, and bringing in new fans is also exciting for us."

Tickets are $12 (kids age 3 and under are admitted free). Tickets for groups of 10 or more are $7 each. All seating will be general admission in the upper bowl. CMU students get in free with their student ID.
The CMU ticketing department will communicate to season ticket holders seating arrangements as the event approaches.
The Chippewa gymnastics and wrestling programs have captured a combined 59 MAC team championships since 1986.
"It's an exciting event because you get to see both sports," CMU wrestling coach Ben Bennett said. "People who don't normally get to see wrestling get to see some wrestling, and people who don't normally get to watch gymnastics get to see gymnastics. There's a lot of action, there's a lot going on and that obviously makes it exciting.
"Our program has had a lot of success in the past and so has the gymnastics program and I think that makes it fun and exciting. It's also our MAC opener and the MAC opener for gymnastics. We're wrestling Northern Illinois and they always have a tough team. Every year we have good duals with those guys so on top of it being an exciting event because we're competing side by side with gymnastics, it should also be a pretty good dual meet."
