MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Six Central Michigan football players participated in a series of workouts and tests in front of 27 National Football League scouts at CMU's annual NFL Pro Day Tuesday at CMU's Indoor Athletic Complex.
Chippewas players taking part in the workout included wide receiver Kenny Brewer III (Lansing, Mich.), defensive lineman Jacques Bristol (Sarasota, Fla.), offensive lineman Deiyantei Powell-Woods (Bluefield, W.Va.), defensive lineman Robi Stuart (Saginaw, Mich.), punter Jake Walrath (Salado, Texas), and defensive lineman Maurice White (Detroit, Mich.).
Organized by NFL scouts and CMU Director of Strength and Conditioning Joel Welsh, the event began with weight room testing including a flex test, vertical jump, and bench press. Testing was followed by an open field session which included the broad jump, 40-yard dash, pro shuttle and L Drill. Players then went through position-specific drills and exercises.
Brewer caught passes from CMU quarterback Bert Emanuel, Jr., defensive linemen Bristol, Stuart, and White and offensive lineman Powell-Woods all went through position-specific drills in the Turf Bay. Walrath completed punting activities outside in Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Bristol spoke about how appreciative he is of the opportunity Central Michigan gave him on the football field and beyond.
"I could have done a little bit better on a few things but I'm happy with my performance," Bristol said. "It's a blessing to be out here. My split was good for me today. Just to show the younger guys how work continues, being consistent and being that leader can push you to do other things in life. That's what I want to be."
"Coming here in 2019 was a great decision for me. I appreciate everything Central Michigan gave me. It was a great experience, great learning tool, and school-wise, I graduated in four years, it was all a blessing. To be out here doing it, is a great opportunity."
For Stuart, who was sidelined with an injury through half of the 2023 season, it was an opportunity to show fans what he could do at 100 percent.
"It was awesome, I loved being back here, being home again," Stuart said. "To have the opportunity to do this today, was a dream come true. It is one step closer to my dream. It's been a lot of work and training every day, doing something every day. I had a pro day specific coach, a track coach, a recovery coach, two physical therapists, all of these kinds of things. I went all in and threw all the money in the pot just for today."
"Throughout some of the adversities that happened, when I was sitting there and couldn't walk, people would always ask me questions like, 'maybe this should be it.' Maybe every once in a while, something like that would creep into my mind, but I didn't let that be a reality or an option for me. I told myself I have to make it through this and I have to complete this. Someone else is going to tell me that I can't play anymore."
"I spent almost a decade here at Central Michigan. The memories, the lessons I've learned, the education I've received, it's going to be with me the rest of my life. It built on my foundation and those things that are ingrained in me."

Powell-Woods was the only offensive lineman at the workout.
"I thought it went pretty well today," Powell-Woods said. "I jumped higher than I thought, I lifted more on the bench than I thought, and I felt like I ran faster than I previously had. My strengths are my effort and competitiveness. It's all the about the effort you put out there and show that you're willing to put forth the effort to be great. After all of this, I'm going to continue to workout, keep in great shape, and be ready for an opportunity."
The 2024 NFL Draft is slated for April 25-27 in Detroit, Mich.
Central Michigan opens spring practice for its 2024 football season on Wednesday, March 20. The Chippewas will practice 15 times and hold several scrimmages. More information on spring ball will be announced later in March.
