Central Michigan to Host NFL Pro Day on Tuesday Morning

Six Chippewas to participate in NFL Pro Day on Tuesday at CMU’s Indoor Athletic Complex; event is open to the public beginning at approximately 10 a.m. at CMU’s Turf Bay.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Six Central Michigan football players—Kenny Brewer III, Jacques Bristol, Deiyantei Powell-Woods, Robi Stuart, Jake Walrath, and Maurice White—will participate in a workout for National Football League scouts at CMU's annual NFL Pro Day, scheduled for Tuesday morning at the CMU Indoor Athletic Complex Turf Bay.
The event is open to the public at approximately 10 a.m. Fans must enter through Central Michigan's Indoor Athletic Complex must follow the signs. There will be a designated area for fans inside the Turf Bay.
Organized by NFL and CMU personnel, the event will begin with closed weight room testing including a flex test, vertical jump, and bench press. Testing will be followed by an open field session beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m. inside CMU's Indoor Athletic Complex Turf Bay. The players will be tested in the broad jump, 40-yard dash, pro shuttle and L Drill followed by positional drills.
Last year, representatives of all 32 NFL teams were in attendance to watch a total of nine Chippewa football players.
A 6-foot-1, 200-pound wide receiver from Lansing, Mich., Brewer played in 36 career games at Central Michigan. Serving primarily as a downfield blocker at wide receiver and versatile offensive performer, he caught seven passes for 66 yards. Last year, he finished with three receptions for 35 yards (11.7 yards per catch) with a season-long of 21 yards. Brewer transferred to Central Michigan after playing the 2018 and 2019 seasons at Valparaiso. He will graduate from Central Michigan in May 2024 with a degree in Computer Science.
Bristol, a 6-foot-1, 295-pound defensive tackle from Sarasota, Fla., played five seasons at Central Michigan. As a mainstay on the defensive line, Bristol saw action in 57 games with 42 starts, made 144 total tackles (71 solo), 28.0 tackles for loss for 117 yards, 13.0 sacks for 64 yards, broke up six passes, forced two fumbles, and recovered three fumbles. In 2023, Bristol earned consensus All-MAC honors including Second Team All-MAC accolades from league coaches after leading the Chippewas in both tackles for loss (8.0-26 yards) and sacks (4.0-16 yards) and finished with 44 tackles (18 solo) and five quarterback hurries from his defensive tackle position. Bristol earned a degree in Entrepreneurship and is currently pursuing a master's degree in communications from Central Michigan.
A two-time All-MAC selection and consensus All-MAC selection in each of the last two seasons, the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Powell-Woods has seen action in 51 career games with 38 starts in the last five years at Central Michigan. A versatile performer, Powell-Woods has started games at both left and right guard and started 25 consecutive contests from 2021-23. Last year, Powell-Woods earned Second Team All-MAC honors, was a preseason Outland Trophy Watch List member and consensus preseason All-MAC selection. He served as a team captain in two games and was part of an offensive line that allowed just 26 sacks on the year. The Bluefield, W.Va. native Powell-Woods will graduate in May 2024 with a degree in Organization Leadership.
A 6-foot-3, 300-pound defensive tackle from Saginaw, Mich., Stuart is a two-time All-MAC selection and six-time Academic All-MAC honoree. In his six-year, 56-game and 39-start career, Stuart accumulated 113 total tackles (55 solo), 20.5 tackles for loss for 81 yards, 8.0 sacks for 50 yards, and one forced fumble. In 2023, he was a consensus preseason All-MAC selection and was nominated for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy, AFCA Good Works Team, and Wuerffel Trophy. He has served as team captain in multiple games, contributed 29 tackles as a senior, 32 tackles as a sophomore and 24 tackles as a freshman. He was named the MAC Medal of Excellence award recipient for Central Michigan in May 2023, an award that is presented to one male and one female student-athlete at each of the MAC's 12 schools that exhibit athletics excellence, leadership, and service. Stuart graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Neuroscience in 2023 and is pursuing a master's degree in Neuroscience at Central Michigan.
Walrath, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound punter from Salado, Texas, appeared in one season at Central Michigan after transferring from Tarleton State. Over his five-year punting career, he saw action in 47 games, averaged 41.7 yards per punt (205 punts for 8,541 yards) with a long of 74 yards. He finished his four-year career at Tarleton State ranked No. 2 all-time in career punting with a 40.9 yards per punt average, kicked 27 punts of 50 yards or more, placed 45 punts inside the 20-yard line and registered 55 fair catches in 35 games. Last year as a graduate senior punter at Central Michigan, Walrath ranked No. 4 in the MAC in punting (43.2 yards per punt), third in the league in 50-yard punts (15) and No. 9 in the MAC in punts placed inside the 20-yard line (12). He also registered a long of 63 yards, seven touchbacks, 18 fair catches, and had no punts blocked. After earning a bachelor's degree from Tarleton State, Walrath was enrolled in master's degree courses at Central Michigan.
White, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound defensive end from Detroit, Mich., played two seasons at Central Michigan after transferring from Memphis. In his two years at CMU, he played in 16 games with 11 starts at defensive end. In 2023, he made 18 total tackles (11 solo), ranked No. 3 on the squad in tackles for loss (5-28 yards), ranked no. 2 on the team in sacks (3.5-22 yards), registered five quarterback hurries, recovered a fumble, and made tackles in eight of 12 games played. At Memphis, he saw action in 22 games with 16 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. He is a Community Development/Community Services major.
Central Michigan opens spring practice for its 2024 football season on Wednesday, March 20. Practice dates will be announced later as the Chippewas will practice 15 times and hold several scrimmages.
