YPSILANTI, Mich. – Eastern Michigan scored two runs on three hits in the bottom of the ninth inning on Thursday in handing Central Michigan a 5-4 loss in the opener of a three-game Mid-American Conference baseball series at EMU's Oestrike Stadium.
Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Friday (1 p.m.).

The Eagles scored three runs on four hits and an error off reliever Bryce Hellgeth (1-2) in the eighth to pull to 4-3.
In the ninth, Brendan Kleinman singled with one out and then pinch runner Cole Wilcox scored on a Drew Jones double to the center field fence. Logan Hugo followed with a single to drive in Jones with the winning run.
CMU scored all four of its runs in the first two innings. In the first, Danny Wuestenfeld doubled in a run and then Jacob Donahue followed with an RBI single.
Ely Stuart hit his third home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the second to give the Chippewas a 4-0 lead.
