Chippewas Enter MAC Tournament as No. 4 Seed

No. 4 seed Central Michigan to play No. 5 Bowling Green on Thursday at approximately 1:30 p.m. ET; Contest to be aired on ESPN+; Chippewas enter tournament on two-game win streak.
CLEVELAND, Ohio—Riding a two-game win streak, Central Michigan has earned a berth into the 2024 Mid-American Conference Men's Basketball Tournament next week at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse (March 14-16). The No. 4 seeded Chippewas (18-13, 12-6 MAC) will open their 30th MAC Tournament on Thursday, March 14 with a Quarterfinal matchup against Bowling Green (19-12, 10-8 MAC). Tipoff will be at approximately 1:30 p.m. ET.

Should CMU win Thursday's contest, it would advance to a Semifinal Round matchup set for Friday, March 15 at 5 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network against either No. 1 seed Toledo or No. 8 seed Kent State. A win in that game would give CMU a berth in the MAC Championship Game, scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The league champion automatically advances to the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
Central Michigan will face Bowling Green for the third time this season. Both meetings went into overtime and the Chippewas claimed both games during the regular season (77-76 in double overtime on Feb. 3, and 62-60 in overtime on Feb. 20).
Central Michigan finished fourth in the MAC standings with a 12-6 record. It is the most successful season for CMU since the Chippewas also went 12-6 in 2014-15. CMU has won 10 of its last 14 games.
Historically, Central Michigan has won two MAC Tournament titles in both 1987 and 2003 and appeared in four MAC Tournament title games (1987, 1990, 2003, and 2015). In 45 total games, CMU is 18-27 in MAC Tournament games.
