A strong year in the classroom earned another annual round of recognition from the national coaches’ association
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Central Michigan Lacrosse was named an Academic Honor Squad, had 12 players from the 2024 season named to the NCAA I Honor Roll by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Wednesday afternoon.
Â
The Chippewas accumulated a 3.60 grade-point average for the 2023-24 academic year to go along with the program's first outright regular season Mid-American Conference title in the spring, which easily cleared the IWLCA's requirement of a 3.20 team GPA for the Academic Honor Squad.
Â
Student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and be a junior, senior or graduate student to qualify for the IWLCA Honor Roll. The following 12 Chippewas made the cut:
Â
Jozy Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio / Sycamore), junior, Business Administration
Jane Durkin (Riverside, Ill. / Riverside-Brookfield), junior, Education (PK-6)
Sandy Edwards (Stuart, Fla. / Jensen Beach), senior, Neuroscience
Amanda Hilderbrandt (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton), graduate, Business Administration
Sadie Hinkle (Medina, Ohio / Medina), junior, Sport Management
Makenna Huhn (Parker, Colo. / Chaparral), senior, Neuroscience
Madeline Kosir (Lake Zurich, Ill. / Lake Zurich), senior, Exercise Science
Abigail Lair (Massillon, Ohio / Jackson), senior, Information Systems
Hailie Moore (Spring, Texas / Klein), graduate, Leadership
Olivia Moorman (Kildeer, Ill. / St. Viator), senior, Environmental Science
Emma Potter (Noblesville, Ind. / Noblesville), junior, Exercise Science
Hanna Wenger (Loveland, Ohio / Loveland), junior, Marketing
Â
Edwards, Allen and Hinkle add Wednesday's IWLCA distinction to their respective selections to the College Sport Communicators Academic All-District unit announced earlier this summer. All three were also All-MAC honorees with Allen on the league's first-team defense, Edwards and Hinkle on the second team for the midfield and attack, respectively.
