Football to Open Preseason Practice on Tuesday

Chippewas’ Training Camp to consist of 20 practices in preparation for their season opener vs. Central Connecticut State (Thursday, Aug. 29).
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—The Central Michigan Football program will open its 2024 preseason training camp next Tuesday at Kramer/Deromedi Field at Kelly/Shorts Stadium and Indoor Athletic Center Turf Bay. This fall, the Chippewas will practice a total of 20 times during training camp as they prepare for the 2024 season opener vs. Central Connecticut State on Thursday, Aug. 29 (7 p.m. on ESPN+).
The Chippewas will host two preseason scrimmages, including an open scrimmage at Kramer/Deromedi Field on Saturday, Aug. 17. Details will be announced at a later date.
Central Michigan will break camp on Thursday, August 22 and begin preparation for the season opener. Fall classes begin on Monday, August 26.
The Chippewas will report to camp and host a preseason media opportunity on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Chippewa Champions Center Atrium. Head Coach Jim McElwain's press conference will be livestreamed on www.cmuchippewas.com. A link will be provided on the website.
Central Michigan returns a total of 17 starters (eight on offense and nine on defense) and a host of players who saw extensive action during the 2023 season. Four All-MAC honorees return to the team from last season including defensive back Donte Kent, running back Marion Lukes, wide receiver Jesse Prewitt III, and offensive lineman Brayden Swartout.

For the second consecutive season, CMU is selling non-conference road game tickets for games at Florida International (Sept. 7) in Miami and Illinois (Sept. 14) in Champaign, Ill. Contact the CMU Athletics Ticket Office to order.
