Brayden Swartout, Davis Heinzen, and Dominic Serapiglia III are returning starters on Central Michigan’s offensive line.
MOUNT PLEASANT—Three starters—Brayden Swartout, Davis Heinzen, and Dominic Serapiglia III—return to the Central Michigan offensive line room, coached by Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach Tavita Thompson.
All three played key roles in CMU's offense last season. The Chippewas must replace two starters and have a whole host of other players who have experience, talent, size, and strength. CMU also welcomes a group of newcomers.
Last year CMU's offensive line allowed just 26 sacks on the year (2.2 sacks per game). Overall, the Chippewas have players returning who have accounted for 61 career starts and 122 games played. Sixteen of CMU's offensive lineman stand 6-feet-3-inches or taller and 10 are 300 or more pounds.

A consensus preseason All-MAC honoree, Brayden Swartout returns for his final season in a Chippewa uniform. Last year he earned Second Team All-MAC honors after starting all 12 games at right tackle. Over his three-year career, Swartout has played in 28 games, started 25, including 25 consecutive contests (current streak). He is a two-time Academic All-Mid-American Conference honoree and two-time College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection. As a freshman, he made his first career start in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl while playing behind current NFL players Luke Goedeke and Bernhard Raimann and helped lead Central Michigan to a victory over Washington State.
Redshirt junior Davis Heinzen is also back after starting all 12 games at left tackle in 2023. Heinzen has started 24 consecutive games, the team's sixth longest consecutive games started streak and is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection. He was named a preseason Third Team All-MAC selection by Athlon Magazine.
Center Dominic Serapiglia III returns after starting all 12 games at center in 2023. Serapiglia has been nominated for two national community service awards and earned preseason all-conference honors from two publications. In his four-year career at Central Michigan and Southeastern Louisiana, he has played in 38 games with 25 career starts on the offensive line (12 at CMU, 13 total at SELU).
Returning players competing for playing time and starting positions include senior Vashon Bailey, who has played in 34 career games primarily at left tackle, Brady Ploucha, who played in nine games as a backup guard last year, along with Martin Koivisto (10 games on special teams) and Jacob Booth (three games on special teams).
Redshirt freshmen returning to the roster include the versatile Ryan Blum (one game), who was last year's backup center, Matthew Nehf, John Burke, and Brady Neu, who moved back to offensive line from defensive line.
CMU also welcomes three transfers including Jemeil Jackson, who was a two-time All-CCA and All-South Region selection at Fort Valley State, Luis Martinez, who played in 15 games at West Liberty, and Bronson Burton, who transfers in from Avila.
Incoming freshmen include Brayden Greensky, Michael Kostantonov, Cohen Lantz, Cory Pecynski, Jacob Saurbeck, Dane Sickler, and Dasan Smith. Smith was a two-time All-State athlete from the Upper Peninsula.
