Zanatta Posts Second-Straight Top 10 to Lead Women's Golf at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Ella Zanatta followed up her outstanding Central Michigan golf debut with solid encore.
Zanatta, a freshman from Hamilton, Ontario, shot a 2-over par 74 on Sunday to finish with a 54-hole 221 total and tie for ninth place in the 83-player field at the Nittany Lion Invitational on the the Penn State Blue Course.
Zanatta, who two weeks ago tied for first in her first collegiate tournament A-Ga-Ming Invitational in Kewadin, opened at Penn State on Saturday morning with a 4-over 76 and then shot a 1-under 71 in the second round on Saturday afternoon.
Her 71 tied her career best and her 36-hole 147 and her 221 totaled bettered the scores she posted at A-Ga-Ming. She began the final round tied for 13th and moved up four spots.
The Chippewas posted a 321 team score on Sunday to finish at 932 and in 12th place in the 14-team field.
Also for CMU on Sunday, Hailey Katona and Lauren Davis both shot 82, Rachel Niskanen carded an 83, and Lexi Schulman shot 89.
Katona finished with a 233 total and in a tie for 50th; Niskanen came in at 235 and tied for 60th; Davis finished at 243 and tied for 74th; and Schulman finished at 256 and in 81st.
Catherine Rao of Princeton closed with a 2-over 74 to finish at 5-under 211 and claim medalist honors. Abra Richmond of Princeton (71) finished three shots back.
Princeton shot 296 on Sunday to claim the team title with an 874 total. Harvard (300) was second, 15 shots behind.
The Chippewas are scheduled to play in the Rocket Classic, hosted by Toledo, on Sunday and Monday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
