CLEVELAND, Ohio—As part of the Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference Men's Basketball Challenge, the Central Michigan men's basketball team will host Texas State on Saturday, Feb. 8, the two leagues announced Monday afternoon. The matchup will be played at CMU's McGuirk Arena. Tipoff is 5 p.m. ET for a contest televised on an ESPN platform.
The February MAC-SBC Challenge pairings were based on real-time NET rankings.
The MAC-SBC Challenge—a scheduling alliance in the sports of men's and women's basketball—began during the opening week of the 2024-25 season in November with 12 Mid-American Conference (MAC) men's basketball programs traveling to 12 Sun Belt Conference (SBC) teams, while the 12 MAC women's basketball programs hosted the 12 SBC teams.
Each MAC and Sun Belt team included in the MAC-SBC Challenge is guaranteed one home and one away game each season. Scheduling assistance is provided by Ordinal Sports Group. In addition to relevant NET data, geography and frequency of past contests are considered in determining the matchups. Each MAC-SBC Challenge game will be carried on an ESPN platform.
In the first of a two-game scheduling series, Central Michigan won a 74-70 victory at South Alabama in its season opener.
Next up for Central Michigan (6-9, 0-3 MAC), the Chippewas will host Eastern Michigan (7-8, 1-2 MAC) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
