Maroon tops Gold, 18-12, in Wrestling Intrasquad Dual at McGuirk Arena

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Maroon won five of the nine matches contested on Sunday in posting an 18-12 victory over Gold in the Central Michigan wrestling team's intrasquad dual at McGuirk Arena.

No match was held at 125 pounds. Maroon's Jimmy Nugent (149) and Luke Cochran (197) scored bonus points in their respective victories.

Mason Shrader (157), Chandler Amaker (165) and Aidan Fockler (285) also won for Maroon.

Gold victories came from Andrew Austin (133), Nick Blackburn (141), Mason Alessio (174) and Wyatt Ferguson (184).

The Chippewas open the season on Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Michigan State Open.

Their first dual meet is scheduled for Dec. 5 at Indiana and their home opener is the annual Chippewa Challenge on Dec. 21, when they will wrestle Cal State Bakersfield and American at McGuirk Arena.
