CMU's Aure, Craner Earn Titles at Michigan State Open

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Central Michigan's Kellan Aure and Gavin Craner earned weight-class championships on Saturday at the Michigan State Open at Jenison Field House.
Aure, a redshirt sophomore, went 3-0 to win the 141-pound class in the Open Division of the tournament.
Craner, a freshman wrestling in his first collegiate event, posted a 3-0 mark to win the 184-pound class in the Freshman/Sophomore Division.
Also for the Chippewas, Nick Blackburn (141) and Archer Anderson (125) each placed second, Mason Shrader (157) was third, Luke Cochran (197) and Nick Marienfeld (174) each placed fourth, Cole O'Boyle (197) placed fifth, and Mason Alessio (174) finished sixth.
Anderson and O'Boyle wrestled in the Freshman/Sophomore Division, while all of the others wrestled in the Open Division.
Aure opened with an 8-0 major decision victory over Jacob Brennamen of Edinboro, then defeated Indiana's Lucas Peters, 4-1; and then downed Blackburn in the final, 5-2.
Cramer downed Ohio State's Carson Mize, 11-8, in his opening pount andthen posted a 20-2 technical fall victory over Tyson Clear of Edinboro to reach the final, where he dfeated Cody Kirk of Davidson, 8-3.
