PHILADELPHIA – Mason Shrader placed third at 157 pounds to lead the Central Michigan wrestling team on Sunday at the Keystone Classic, hosted by Penn, at The Palestra.

Shrader, a redshirt senior, was the top finisher among the 14 Chippewas who participated in the 11-team tournament. Eight Chippewas placed in their respective weight classes.

CMU finished seventh in the team standings with 86.5 points. Rutgers (159) was first followed by host Penn (140) and Lock Haven (103.5).

CMU's Nick Blackburn (141) and Luke Cochran (197) each placed fourth; Adrien Cramer (184), Andrew Austin (133) and Bryan Caves (285) each finished fifth; Jimmy Nugent (149) was sixth; and Aidan Fockler (285) placed seventh.

Shrader went 4-1 on the day, closing with an 8-5 victory over Anthony White of Rutgers in the third-place match. Shrader opened with an 8-1 win over Wyatt Sout of Penn and then posted a 19-4 technical fall victory over Michigan State's Braden Stauffenberg. He then topped Lock Haven's Nick Stampoulos, 4-3, to reach the semifinals, where he dropped a 7-4 decision to Jude Swisher of Penn.

Blackburn, a sophomore, dropped a 7-5 decision to Edinboro's Jacob Brennamen in the third-place match at 141, while Cochran, a redshirt sophomore, dropped a 5-3 decision to Tucker Hogan of Lock Haven in the third-place match at 197.

Cramer, a redshirt senior, topped Matthew Walsh of Harvard, 4-3, in the fifth-place match at 184; Austin downed Billy Townson of Rutgers on a 2-0 decision in the fifth-place match at 133; and Caves posted a 2-0 win over Josh Terrill of Michigan State in the fifth-place match at 285.

Nugent fell in the fifth-place match at 149 to Lock Haven's Lucas Kapusta, 11-2; and Fockler finished seventh when Lock Haven's Kade Sottolano forfeited the seventh-place match at 285.
