A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich.—Zyzelewski Family Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan and Central Michigan Athletics has announced a change of leadership in the CMU women's soccer program. Head Coach Jeremy Groves will not return and a national search for the program's next head coach begins immediately.
"I want to thank Coach Groves for his dedication to—and impact on—our student-athletes, the university, and Mount Pleasant community during his seven seasons of service at Central Michigan University," Folan said. "At this time, I have determined that we need to go in a different direction with our women's soccer program. I am confident that with our program's history of success, our commitment to women's soccer and our track record of developing female student-athletes will attract a high-caliber candidate pool."
In his seven seasons as Central Michigan's head coach, Groves compiled a 31-59-24 overall record and 21-38-17 MAC record with two MAC Championship appearances (2019 and 2021). His most successful season came in 2021 when he led the Chippewas to a 9-8-1 overall, 6-4-1 MAC record, and a berth in the MAC Tournament.
In 2025, Central Michigan finished 1-14-3 in 2025 and 1-8-3 in MAC play. The Chippewas have not reached the postseason in four straight years.
Assistant Coach Keyton Wheelock will lead the program in the interim until a new head coach is appointed.
