Baseball Leadoff Dinner Set for Feb. 6

Former Chippewa MVP, Chicago Cubs draftee Sean Hoorelbeke to serve as keynote speaker
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan Baseball Leadoff Dinner is scheduled from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6 at the Kulhavi Events Center on the CMU campus.
The second annual event serves as the season kickoff for CMU Baseball and includes a cocktail reception, buffet dinner, player introductions and season preview, an autograph session, and cash bar.
The keynote speaker is former Chippewa standout Sean Hoorelbeke, a four-year letter winner who in 2008 served as the team captain, earned the team Most Valuable Player Award, and was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the Major League Baseball Draft.
He helped lead the Chippewas to the 2004 Mid-American Conference championship and the MAC West title in 2006.
Hoorelbeke, a Hartland native, went on to a career in education, teaching and coaching baseball at Bear Creek High School in Lakewood, Colo. Today, he serves as an assistant principal at the school.
