Baseball Drops Series Finale at Western Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky collected 11 hits against six Central Michigan pitcher on Sunday as the Hilltoppers downed the Chippewas, 8-4, completing the sweep of the teams' four-game series at Nick Denes Field.
The Chippewas (2-10) head south again next weekend, this time to Lynchburg, Va. For a three-game series with Liberty.
Western Kentucky improved to 10-1 with Sunday's win, its fifth straight.
Sophomore Mikey Murphy drew his second start of the season and led the Chippewas with three hits including a solo home run, his first round-tripper of the season.
Cole Prout added two hits including an RBI double and Aaron Piasecki had a two-run double for the Chippewas.
Redshirt junior right-hander A.J. Kostic (0-1) made his first career start on the mound for CMU. He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out two and walking two over five innings.
Lane Kloha, Cayden Smith, Jake Brown, Jack Bach and Justin Morgan pitched in relief.
The Hilltoppers built a 6-1 lead through seven innings before the Chippewas scored three runs in the eighth to cut it to 6-4.
WKU, which is ranked 11th in the 11point7 mid-major poll, responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to increase its lead to 8-4.
