Baseball Drops Series Opener at Liberty

The Chippewas (2-11) and Flames (8-4) play the second game of their series on Saturday (2 p.m. ET) and conclude on Sunday (1 p.m. ET).
CMU led, 3-0, when Liberty scored five runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Tucker Moore's grand slam.
CMU starter Alejandro Espinoza (0-4) allowed five runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings in taking the loss. He struck out three and walked three. Jared Hanson, Jake Brown and Jack Smith pitched in relief for the Chippewas.
Spencer Verburg had three hits, Cayden Smith tripled and Zach Knowlton drove in two runs to lead the Chippewas at the plate.
