Prout, Campanale homer for CMU
The Chippewas (16-25) entertain Ball State in a three-game Mid-American Conference series beginning on Friday, April 25 (3 p.m.) at Theunissen Stadium.
CMU is 8-10 in MAC play and in seventh place. The Cardinals lead the MAC at 15-3. They are 29-12 overall.
CMU led, 6-2, when Oakland (11-31) scored five runs in the eighth inning to seize a 7-6 lead. The Chippewas tied it in the ninth on Aaron Piasecki's RBI double.
Cole Prout and Rees Campanale hit back-to-back home runs for CMU in the sixth inning. Prout's two-run shot was his team-leading eighth of the season and his first since he hit two against Akron on April 13. Campanale's homer was his fourth of the season.
Aydin Wright had three hits including two doubles to lead the Chippewas at the plate. It was Wright's second consecutive three-hit game, and it marked the sixth time in his last nine games that he has collected multiple hits.
Prout, Campanale and Cole Kwiatkowski finished with two hits apiece.
Cayden Smith (1-2), who came on to pitch the 11th, took the loss.
CMU starter Hayden Bailey allowed four runs on eight hits over 7 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out three.
