TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo scored 10 unanswered runs on Friday in handing Central Michigan an 11-5 loss in game two of a three-game Mid-American Conference baseball series at the Rockets' Scott Park.

The loss dropped CMU to 20-34, 11-18 MAC. The Chippewas are a game behind Eastern Michigan, which is 12-17 in MAC play, for sixth place, and are tied with Western Michigan (11-18) for seventh.

The Chippewas and Rockets close the series, and the regular season, on Saturday (1 p.m.).

CMU needs a win on Saturday and losses by both Eastern and Western to claim sixth place and the final spot on the tournament. The Chippewas hold the tie-breaker over the Eagles; Western holds the tie-breaker over CMU.

If CMU, Eastern and Western finish in a three-way tie, the Broncos take the tournament berth by virtue of the better combined record (4-2) against the Chippewas and Eagles.

Eastern Michigan lost, 6-5, to Kent State; and Western Michigan fell, 12-1, to Ohio, on Friday.

CMU built a 5-1 lead through 3 ½ innings on Friday before the Rockets tied it with a four-run fourth.

Toledo then scored three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Aaron Piasecki had three hits to lead the Chippewas at the plate, while Mikey Murphy and Zach Knowlton had two each. Murphy and Aydin Wright drove in two runs apiece.

CMU starter Jared Hanson allowed five runs on 10 hits over four innings. Liam Stumpf (1-7) surrendered the three runs in the sixth and took the loss. Stumpf allowed six hits over 1 2/3 innings.

Quin Konuszewski and Justin Morgan also pitched in relief.
