Severe Weather Halts Jesse Owens Classic; Track and Field to Resume on Saturday

Chippewas compete in 400mH, 5000m on Friday
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Severe weather conditions in the Columbus area brought the Jesse Owens Classic to a standstill on Friday, leaving Central Michigan Track and Field to compete in just three events between delays.
The Chippewas competed in the 400mH, 1500m and 5000m in between weather delays, brought on by rain and lightning. The hammer throw, long jump, 1500m and 200m, previously scheduled for Friday evening have been moved to Saturday's schedule of events.
Libby Munderloh placed 12th of 30 in the 400mH, finishing in 1:02.81, a personal best.
Emma Janesak, Lois Creasey, Jessie Gibbins and Chesney Wilke ran the 1500m on Friday, while Kate Jenkins ran the 5000m after the weather delay. Janesak, Creasey, Wilke & Jenkins ran personal-bests. Race placements are not expected to be official until Saturday.
Alongside the remainder of Friday's events, the Chippewas are scheduled to compete in a full day of events on Saturday, beginning with field events at 9 a.m. Updated event schedules will be located on the Outdoor Track & Field Schedule on CMUChippewas.com on Saturday morning and through @CMUTrack on X and Instagram.
