Veteran Olin, Rejment, Thomas earn preseason All-MAC honors
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Mid-American Conference released its preseason poll for the 2025 volleyball season, and Central Michigan was picked to finish third out of 12 teams in the regular season, with one vote to win the tournament and earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Seniors Abby Olin and Natalia Rejment, along with sophomore Grace Thomas, were named to the Preseason All-MAC team. With three honorees, the Chippewas had the most of any team in the conference.
Under the direction of first-year coach Arielle Wilson, CMU returns much of its talent from its historic 2024 season.
In 2024, the Chippewas scored 2,157.5 points, Abby Olin and Natalia Rejment combined for 796 of those points, 57 percent of the team's total.
Eleven Chippewas return, including First Team All-MAC honoree Olin and Rejment and Thomas, both of whom earned Second Team All-MAC accolades. Sophomore Hannah Langton returns after earning a spot on the MAC All-Freshman Team a year ago along with Thomas.
The 1,403.5 points scored by those 11 returners accounts for 65 percent of the total points scored in 2024, showcasing the fact that the Chippewas retain the bulk of their offensive prowess.
On the defensive side, Langton returns after playing every set of her freshman campaign at libero , where she totaled 522 digs, the eighth most in a single season in program history.
Olin and Thomas, both of whom are middle blockers, combined in 2024 to chart 216 blocks, 81 percent of CMU's total. Olin set the season solo block record with 36, and posted 115 blocks.
Grace Thomas, who started her freshman season on a roll, charted 10 blocks in her first collegiate match, and stayed on pace as she recorded 101 blocks in her rookie compaign.
Central Michigan will graduate six seniors in the 2025 season: Rejment, Olin, Alina Anderson, Ella Peter, Maddy Gebhardt and Brooklyn Conner.
The Chippewas open in McGuirk Arena on Oct. 3 (6 p.m.) with a MAC match with Toledo.
