
Zanatta, Niskanen Lead CMU Women on Final Day of Canadian Collegiate Invitational

AURORA, Ont. – Ella Zanatta shot a 4-over par 76 and Rachel Niskanen posted a 5-over 77 on Tuesday to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team during the final round of the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at Beacon Hall Golf Club.
Zanatta finished the 36-hole tournament with an 11-over 155 total to tie for 47th, while Niskanen finished at 12-over 156 to place 52nd.
The pair led the Chippewas to a 12th-place finish in the 12-team tournament, which featured a strong field including several Big Ten and Southeastern Conference teams, among them five – Michigan State, Ole Miss, Purdue, Tennessee and Virginia -- that competed in the NCAA Championships last spring.
CMU posted a 317 team total on Tuesday after opening with a 321 on Monday. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes from the originally scheduled 54 because of weather.
Also for CMU on Tuesday, Alexis McMurray shot 80, Zoe Dull posted an 84, and Lauren Davis shot 87. McMurray and Davis both finished at 165, while Dull finished at 176.
Auburn shot 276 on Tuesday to finish with a 560 team total and the tournament title. Kent State, which shot 285 on Tuesday, was second, six shots behind.
Kent State's Veronika Kedronova claimed medalist honors, closing with a 2-under 70 to finish with an 8-under 136, two shots ahead of Auburn's Balma Davalos.
The Chippewas are scheduled to play in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Classic in South Bend, Ind. on Sunday, Sept. 28.
