Niskanen, Zanatta Post Top-10 Finishes at Fighting Irish Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Ella Zanatta and Rachel Niskanen posted matching 9-over par 153 scores on Sunday to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team to a solid fourth-place finish in the nine-team Fighting Irish Classic at Warren Golf Course.

Niskanen opened with a 2-over par 74 and then shot a 7-over 79 in the second round of the 36-hole, one-day event. Zanatta opened with an 8-over 80 and closed with a 1-over 73.

It marked the first top-10 finish of the season for both Chippewas.

The Chippewas shot back-to-back 315 team scores for a 630 total, two shots behind third-place Dayton and four ahead of fifth-place Purdue Fort Wayne. Host Notre Dame won the tournament with a 583 total (290-293).

Also for CMU, Brooke Morris finished tied for 35^th at 164 (81-83), and Lauren Davis and Alexis McMurray tied for 40^th at 166. Davis shot 80-86, McMurray shot 86-80.

The Chippewas are scheduled to play in the WMU Bronco Fall Classic on Oct. 6-7 at the Moors Golf Club in Portage.
