Chippewas return to host Wright State (Sept. 11), Ohio (Sept. 14)
Vermillion, S.D. — Central Michigan Soccer dropped a 1-0 decision at South Dakota Sunday in the final match of a three-match road nonconference swing.
Â
Transfer senior Taylor Primack (Lindenhurst, Ill. / Lakes Community) made her Chippewa debut in goal, tallied five saves in the contest.
Â
Melaina Troy (Rochester Hills, Mich. / Rochester) and Jordan Bailey (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Huntington Beach) were responsible for Central Michigan's pair of on-target attempts in the second half, both in the 63rd minute.
Â
Nine players for CMU collected a shot out of the team's 12 on the day, including a four-shot melee in the 10th minute, three of which were redirected in traffic before getting to the Coyotes' keeper before the fourth was sent just wide of the goal by freshman Sofia Spano (Bloomfield Hills, Mich. / Bloomfield).
Â
Neither side recorded an on-target attempt until South Dakota's goal in the 41st minute. The Coyotes drove to the end line to Primack's left, lined in a tight cross to set up a header inside the 6' on the opposite post.
Â
Central Michigan Soccer returns to Mount Pleasant Thursday for a 4 p.m. kickoff against Wright State to conclude the 2025 nonleague slate. The Chippewas remain at the CMU Soccer Complex next Sunday (Sept. 14, 1 p.m.) to open Mid-American Conference play against Ohio.
