Freshman Luke Neiswonger Earns Weekly MAC Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan freshman right-hander Luke Neiswonger made a splash in his collegiate debut and, as a result, was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Neiswonger, who hails from Fort Wayne, Ind., allowed one hit while striking out eight and walking one in throwing 67 pitches over five shutout innings in CMU's series-clinching 6-1 victory at West Georgia on Sunday.
Neiswonger allowed a one-out single and then issued a walk in the first inning before inducing an inning-ending double play. He was perfect over the ensuing four innings and left with a 5-0 lead in picking up the victory.
