Chippewa outfielder's big weekend included two walk-off hits
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan baseball player Harrison Bowman has been named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league announced today.
Bowman, a junior right fielder from Owensboro, Ky., delivered for the Chippewas as they took two of three from Toledo in a MAC series on Keilitz Field at Theunissen Stadium.
Bowman was the last man at the plate in both CMU wins as he hit a one-out grand slam in the eighth inning in the Chippewas' 18-7 run-rule victory on Saturday, and then on Sunday he delivered a two-out RBI single in the 11th inning for a 6-5 walk-off win.
Bowman had four hits including a three-run double and his grand slam in Saturday's game, and finished with nine RBI, a season high for a MAC player and it tied him for the second most in a single game in the 119-year history of Central Michigan baseball.
Bowman hit .500 (7 for 14) on the weekend with 10 RBI and a .857 slugging percentage.
The Chippewas entertain Michigan State on Tuesday (3 p.m.) in a nonconference game and then go to Eastern Michigan on the weekend for a three-game MAC series.
