MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan women's lacrosse coach Emilia Ward, who has led the program for the last four years, announced her resignation on Thursday morning, effective immediately. Assistant Coach Katie Vahle will assume duties as Central Michigan's interim head coach.
Central Michigan began its 2026 season with an 0-5 record but three games were against top-25 opponents. Eleven contests remain on the Chippewas' 2026 schedule, including seven upcoming Mid-American Conference matchups.
"We are moving forward with Katie as our interim head coach for our lacrosse program," Zyzelewski Family Vice President/Director of Athletics Amy Folan said. "Katie's leadership and commitment to our student-athletes make her well-suited to guide our team during this transition. We appreciate Coach Ward's service over the last four years and wish her well."
