Thompson Takes Ninth on Steeplechase All-Time List at Jim Green Invitational

Thompson took second overall with a 10:55.26 personal best to move up to ninth place on Chippewa all-time list
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — Central Michigan Track & Field kicked off the Jim Green Invitational, hosted by Kentucky, Friday afternoon.
Eva Thompson and the distance team highlighted the Chippewas' first day. Thompson recorded a 10:55.26 finish in the steeplechase to move up to ninth in the Chippewa record books. She logged second overall in-meet. Emma Netzel and Nikki Carothers joined Thompson in the event and logged times of 11:33.28 and 11:43.97, respectively.
Maya Guikema led the Chippewa pack in the 1500m with a fifth-place finish of 4:30.29. Lois Creasey took 11th at 4:36.94, and Jessie Gibbins took 12th at 1:39.28. Mara Szuper set a personal best of 4:45.17.
We had a solid start today. We're excited to get back out here tomorrow and keep the ball rolling. Central Michigan Director of Track & Field Jenny Swieton said of the team's performance Friday.
Victoria Merrick started off the day for CMU in the hammer throw. Merrick topped out on her second attempt at 46.64m.
Emily Yoshino rounded out the day's field events, clearing 3.65m in the pole vault.
Linnearia Richards and Libby Munderloh took part in the 400m-H, finishing ninth and 10th, respectively. Richards logged a 1:03.36, and Munderloh clocked 1:06.36.
In the 200m, Ella Sweatt finished in 24.68 seconds, and Andrea Merin finished at 24.92 seconds.
Central Michigan will round out competition at the Jim Green Invite Saturday, starting at 10:30 a.m., with Merrick in the discus throw.
