Women’s Basketball to host Old Dominion for the MAC-SBC Challenge Nov. 2

Central Michigan Women’s Basketball Takes on Old Dominion for the first time in program history in the opening round of the MAC – SBC Challenge.
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan Women's Basketball will welcome Old Dominion to McGuirk Arena on Monday, November 2 for the opening round of the 2026-27 Mid-American Conference-Sun Belt Conference Challenge.
The November game will mark the first round of the event, as the two conferences will set up another contest to be played on February 6, 2027. The matchups are based on NET rankings after the conclusion of the 2025-26 season. Central Michigan finished the regular season fourth in the conference and the Monarchs ended their season in 6th place in the SBC.
Each MAC and Sun Belt team included in the MAC-SBC Challenge is guaranteed one home and away game each season.
The Monarchs' trip to Mount Pleasant will mark the first time the two teams have played.
In June 2026, the conferences announced the renewal of the series on both the women's and men's side of the game. Central Michigan is 1-3 in MAC-SBC Challenge games, collecting a victory over Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. on February 8, 2025.
Scheduling assistance is provided by Ordinal Sports Group. In addition to relevant NET data, geography and frequency of past contests are considered in determining the matchups. Each MAC-SBC Challenge game will be broadcast on an ESPN platform.
