Program riding Drenth sweep into de facto MAC Championship preview
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Central Michigan Cross Country is traveling down 131 Friday, Sept. 18, for its second meet of the year in the George Dales Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan. The race will preview the Mid-American Conference Championship, which will take place at the same site.
The women's team, spearheaded by Jeff Drenth Memorial champion Kyah Hoffman, will take the line at 10 a.m. for a 6k race. The men, led by Jeff Drenth runner-up Nate Carmody will take the line at 10:40 for the 8k.
Both the women's and the men's teams are coming off team victories at the season-opening Jeff Drenth Memorial 5k.
The women took the top three spots in Hoffman (1), Eva Thompson (2) and Maya Guikema (3). Logan Brazee (9) and Lois Creasey (10) rounded out the Chippewa's top five.
Four of the top five Chippewa men finished the 5k in the top 10. Carmody (2) and Blake Chipman (4) finished in the top five; Miciah Smith (6), Evan Owczarek (8) and Pierce Scheffler (13) were the men's top five runners.
