SHEPHERD, Mich. – Central Michigan Cross Country celebrated a successful senior day at the 41st annual Jeff Drenth Memorial 5k. Sophomore Kyah Hoffman took first overall in the women's race, leading the Chippewas to their first of two team victories. The women's field consisted of 97 runners, the men's 85.
"I am really happy with the team today. The goal was to race with each other and for each other," Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Jenny Swieton said, "We wanted to practice hurting and pushing through. They did that very well. We had such great groups. I am excited for the rest of the season."
In all five, Chippewa women finished inside the top 10, earning the Chippewas 25 points to finish first of nine teams. Hoffman, sophomore Eva Thompson and senior Maya Guikema took the top three spots on the day, followed by Logan Brazee and Lois Creasey in ninth and 10th place, respectively.
