Billig saves a season high 10 shots
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Central Michigan fell to Indiana 5-0 at Debroah Tobias Field Monday afternoon to close out it's weekend in Bloomington.
Indiana wasted no time on the attack, finding the back of the cage a minute and a half after the opening whistle. The Chippewas nearly evened the score two minutes later, with a low pass to Carolena Ryon, but the Hoosiers closed quickly, extinguishing the chance. Billig and the CMU defense quickly found their footing after the early goal, keeping the Hoosiers scoreless until late in the second quarter.
The Hoosiers added their second goal with just over two minutes remaining in the second quarter on a penalty corner attempt.
The scoreboard remained quiet until early in the fourth quarter, when Indiana added their final three goals of the day.
Junior goalkeeper Jenna Billig logged a season-high 13 saves on the day and faced 6 IU corner attempts.
The Chippewas return to action with their home opener Friday, Sept. 11, for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day against Mercyhurst. The Chippewas will remain at home to host the first of two games against Saint Louis, Sunday, Sept. 13.
