Amanda Eccleston was named to the Central Michigan track & field/cross country coaching staff in July, 2021, and serves as an assistant coach, working with the cross country program and the middle distance and distance runners in the track & field program.
Eccleston served from 2016-21 as a volunteer assistant coach at Michigan, helping to lead the Wolverines to three-consecutive Big Ten cross country championships from 2016-18. She coached 15 first team All-Americans, 14 Big Ten champions, 16 NCAA Championships track & field qualifiers, and one NCAA champion.
Before entering the coaching profession, Eccleston was a standout as an undergrad at Division II Hillsdale and then as a graduate student at Michigan.
At U-M, Eccleston won an indoor national title in the distance medley relay and was an All-American in the outdoor 1500-meter run in 2013. She also captured Big Ten titles in the indoor mile and in the outdoor 1500.
She was a three-time NCAA Division II national champion and a six-time All-American at Hillsdale, capturing national titles in the 800, the 1500, and the mile. She also an All-American in cross country.
Eccleston has run professionally with Brooks Running since 2016 and served as an assistant track & field coach at Huron High School in Ann Arbor in 2015.
Eccleston earned a bachelor's degree with a major in biology from Hillsdale in 2012 and holds a Master's of Public Health from Michigan.
