Betsy became the first of only three women's basketball players in school history to earn multiple first-team All-Mid-American Conference honorees as a first-team All-MAC selection in both 1985 and 1986 (the other two are CMU Hall of Famers Sue Nissen and Carla Sterk) ... she was also an honorable mention All-MAC pick in 1984 ... graduated as the Chippewas' all-time leading scorer (1,495 points) ... helped lead the Chippewas to a pair of MAC championships in 1984 and 1985 and to MAC Tournament titles in 1983 and 1984 ... helped CMU to its best season in school history, a 27-3 record in 1984 including an 18-0 MAC record ... twice named to the MAC All-Tournament Team ... awarded an NCAA post-graduate scholarship ... led CMU in scoring during two seasons, averaging 16.3 points each year, the second-highest single-season averages in history at the time ... helped the Chippewas to an 85-33 (.720) record and two berths in the NCAA Tournament (1983 and 1984) ... twice named a team captain ... honored as the State of Michigan Basketball Advisory Council Women's College Player of the Year in 1986 ... spent 19 seasons as a Division I assistant coach, including four seasons at CMU ... was an assistant coach on Rutgers' 2000 Final Four Team ... a native of Kaleva, Mich., who prepped at Brethren High School.
