Baseball Can't Overcome Early Deficit in 6-4 Loss at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan scored all of its runs in the first two innings on Tuesday in handing Central Michigan a 6-4 loss in a nonconference baseball game at Ray Fisher Stadium.
The Chippewas (11-17) return to Mid-American Conference play with a three-game series beginning on Friday, April 10 at Bowling Green.
Michigan loaded the bases in the first inning and then drew back-to-back walks to force in its first two runs.
The Wolverines got an RBI triple, a run-scoring wild pitch, and a two-run single in extending their lead to 6-0 in the second.
The Chippewas crept back with two runs in the fourth inning and two in the sixth.
Brady Krzciok drove in the Chippewas' first run with a sacrifice fly and Zach Knowlton drew a bases-loaded walk to force in their second.
Drew Loikits hit a two-run single in the sixth. All four CMU runs came with two outs.
Sophomore left-hander Max Hammond (0-3) took the loss in his first career start.
Liam Stumpf, Mitchell Tarnowski, Jack Griffiths, Jack Potteiger and Nate Ross pitched in relief.
