Won seven letters in baseball, basketball and track in the late 1920s ... an outstanding prep at Negaunee High, he was inducted into the Upper Peninsula "Hall of Fame" in 1976 ... was top hitter in baseball in 1927 and was the captain in '28 ... was second-leading scorer in basketball in 1927 and '28 ... once scored 18 of CMU's 24 points in a track victory over Western Michigan ... was an outstanding official in the Midland area for 25 years following graduation from Central ... also coached baseball for 26 seasons, basketball for nine and football for nine at Midland High ... had 25 straight winners in baseball and had a career mark of 218-49 ... was inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches "Hall of Fame" in 1957.
