Q: Where would you rate the team's progress since you became head caoch and when do you expect to see the Chippewas in the MAC Championship hunt?
A:
Team's Progress:
1. Strength: We're strong but not where we need to be
2. Attitude: We have a good attitude to prepare and improve but we
need confidence which will take time
3. Depth: This comes with recruiting
4. System: Our players are still learning our offense, defense and
kicking system. We still make mistakes.
5. Fundamentals: We are improving but we are not at a championship
level.
MAC Championship Hunt: This class that we are currently recruiting will be a key ingredient to the building of a championship program.
Q: Central Michigan has had many great walk-on players make an impact. Honestly, how important are these players to the team and how do you evaluate them next to the scholarship players?
A: Walk-ons are critical to a team's success. You need them for depth and demo squads. Due to the NCAA limit of 85 scholarships, walk-ons can earn a valuable role on our team. Our staff evaluates every member of our team and it does not matter if they are scholarship or non-scholarship. We want the best players on the field.
